I got this because my job at home is to unload the clean dishes, but sometimes you just do not know if they are clean. My mom is usually the one who will run the dishwasher at night and turn of the machine in the morning, so I will not know if it was run or not. Now she is flipping the sign to let me know when they are clean and then when I unload I just flip it back to dirty to let everyone know that it is ok to start filling it up again.
