I had some very dirty old shoes. They were not all torn up, but you could tell they were old from the amount of dirt on them. I had worn them a lot since they were my favorite shoes. These are working great. They were easy to install and I feel safe with my cousins being in the living room without it falling on them. It was easy to adjust to make it so the TV can not move forward the only possible way it can fall is backwards which at my house would mean into the wall so I think that makes it pretty safe.
